ROME, Sept. 21 - Homosexuals, even those who are celibate, will be barred from becoming Roman Catholic priests, a church official said Wednesday, under stricter rules soon to be released on one of the most sensitive issues facing the church. . . . . In addition to the new document, which will apply to the church worldwide, Vatican investigators have been instructed to visit each of the 229 seminaries in the United States. . . . The visits to the American seminaries cover a wide range of concerns, but among those the investigators will be looking for is "evidence of homosexuality" and whether seminarians are being properly prepared to live celibately.

all things considered
not to dramatic of a weekend. one sis ran away, brother rushed to hospital for an appendicitis scare. boy kinda seeing or should i deem stalker, stops by unannounced saturday, 'where have you been? why arent you returning my calls?'
me, 'em well'
granted my phone really was dead and i really had spent the night before making sure my bro was ok. but as a friend says, you're just not that into him. even tho on my mental clipboard i can check off so many boxes. theres just no spark. and i guess if it isnt there it isnt there.
false alarm on the appendicitis thingy but as for the sister, well mia. ah 16yr olds. just hoping and praying. what else can you do?
but maybe she's home now.
so strangely cycling along, very intent on road, bit shakey after wreck-did i post about that? huge gash on chin, wouldnt stop bleeding, left with scar? and i hear 'aoife' and this being dublin i almost ignore it,
way too many aoifes here let me tell ya what, no longer unique, cant get by on just first name, and i turn and its the crazy artist man i dated (?) last fall and im in shock, cut his hair and it was just strange one of those just staring at eachother things, too much to say, both talking a mile a minute interrupting each other etc. dunno what to think, supposed to meet up this weekend. hmmm.
moving on today the lecture was on encephalitis, very scary thing, mortality rate is horrific and i know this is going to sound creepy but i'm so loving school at the moment. cns diseases are so fascinating. went to hospital yesterday for a clinical and they'd a patient come with severe depression, ocd, and anxiety. and then heard lecture about the brain, and how it really is all down to brain chemistry. lecturer called them 'chemical storms'
ok so could ramble on about school forever. damn there was a very attractive male sitting next to me but how do you interact with someone in a computer lab? like i know i could've done something silly like drop a pen etc, but ah well. not really in for that stuff
very sad as its now fall, the spiritual cat has abandoned me, she no longer frequents my room. good no more cat hair, but honestly kinda liked the company. so want to get a puppy. but that thought was ruined by punk asking me if i was ready to have something to take care of for 15 years. em yeah of course.
fall always makes me think of the fall meet at keeneland. i would love to go back for it. that and uk bball. argh contacts driving me mad and eek its gone from sunny to overcast outside and im so not into cycling in the rain. know that i had to train myself to stop saying 'ride my bike' cause ride well different connotation. thats probably spelled wrong. fun fact sure you wanted to know. and im starting to get grumpy cause i havent eaten. it so affects my mood. i mean how can you not eat emotionally? although i am glad that they've started to list overeating as an eating disorder along with anorexia and bulimia. before it was always like it was about self-control or laziness. when its something just as deep and ingrained, going much farther than laziness.
enough rambling for today.

oh dear
first of all jaysus i just typed up the lyrics to a tori amos song-in the last post
if you like tori, should check out imogen heap
she's canadian and all
listening to the white stripes so lyrics may only occasionally interrupt. the new white stripes is execellent. is that how you spell it? no i think its excellent.
ok i can spell hematology, not a big deal i know but here in ireland they spell it haematology
hemorrhage=haemorrhage
drives me mad. and dont get me started on the whole ekg v ecg thing
but i am thrilled to be back in school yeay!
im in third year (yes da, not repeating, as if)
and we're studying central nervous system/locomotion/skin diseases
woo hoo! ok so its mostly pathology, microbiology and pharmacology, but in january
i get to go into the hospital!!!!
thats really what i cant wait for
but really im so glad to be back in school, so relieved not to be repeating a year, and moving forward.
Never again will i have to repeat exams. Its no fun, very stressful-not just for me, and it kinda ruins the summer
so the spiritual cat has like made its second home in my bedroom, im washing my sheets now cause there's so much cat hair on them
although it is really nice, she sleeps at the end of the bed so my feet are warm and occasionally get this vibrating thing-when she purrs. and she's one of those cats who just purrs all the time for no apparent reason. what i dont get is that i dont feed her, i dont even pet her, and yet she still keeps coming back.
recently she's got into bringing me seaweed? i think its seaweed, as a gift? i dunno
it just makes me think of grady bringing us chipmunks on the deck in ky
the reactions the same eww gross what and why?
but she keeps on doing it! i found myself treading on seaweed again last night and of course like a girl i screamed
its one thing to walk all over your clothes, etc, but seaweed feels a bit different to the feet
its amazing its sunny outside but its so fall 'sun' now, completely different from last weekend when i was sunbathing. seasons have changed. but i guessed that from my skin.
i told this to a skeptical boy last weekend and hello of course i was right. wish i wasnt though, last weekend was so gorgeous. a bit jealous you see, know people visiting spain, another to go to portugal on monday, then on thursday my mam will be here as a mere landing pad . . . cause she's on her way to spain.
one thing i didnt do this summer was get to a beach. bit upset about it. but i will survive. ooh another bad song stuck in my head. it was really scary yesterday i cycled into town, the first time since my accident and i was so stressed the whole time that it made me even worse, put me even more off balance. and im pretty bad normally with the whole balance thing. i need need need a helmet. plus it was raining yesterday so i was even more paranoid, not to mention the lovely spray i got from the cars. so can ruin your outfit. for some bizarre reason ok i was thinking about bonnaroo, i brought my rain gear home to the states and in my very organized packing, come on fam, you remember that day july 18th, i left them behind. shite is all i gotta say. so theres this show on rte called pure mule. and apparently you can use pure mule in a good/bad way. anyways its a show about lost weekends. theres a much better quote in a paper i cant quite find, ive had to recycle you see. something along the lines of damn i hate randomn phone calls especially from people who apparently are on their last day of work yet still have to hang up on me????
boss whatever. this is your last day at work!
256.95
price of me new glasses. did ya know that in the states they cant make glass lenses (damn lawyers) and so with someone like me they're super thick, but here they can make glass lenses and so mine are going to be so so thin i cant wait to go pick them up. after of course i pick up the check thank god for parents. or my parents. very grateful even if i dont talk about it alot. more like i bitch and complain but i really got nothing to whine about. anyways so the pictures i scanned last night wont come up, something wrong the hp image program, but they were really good wanted to post them will try again. i hate how txting language has infiltrated my life, all of a sudden i dont know how to use a comma or spell correctly. ok enough of the rambling, you must be bored cause i am, ta ta for now.

can i be you for awhile
my dog wont bite if you sit real still
so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts
whats so special about really deep thoughts
boy you better pray that i bleed real soon
hows thats thought for ya
(sometimes i hear my voice and its been silent all these years)
enough of a dream to only imagine, if i could be someone else
years gone by and i'm still waiting for somebody else to understand . . .
one more casuality
i love the way you communicate your eyes focus on my funny lil shape
lets hear what you think of me now but baby dont look up
the sky is falling
your mother shows up in a nasty dress
and its your turn to stand where i stand
and everybody lookin at you
you take ahold of my hand . . . .
yeah i can hear them
sometimes i hear my voice
so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts

songbird
For you, there'll be no more crying, For you, the sun will be shining, And I feel that when I'm with you,
It's alright, I know it's right . . . . . 'Cause I feel that when I'm with you, It's alright, I know it's right.
And the songbirds are singing, Like they know the score, And I love you, I love you, I love you, Like never before. And I wish you all the love in the world, But most of all, I wish it from myself . . . . And I love you, I love you, I love you,
Like never before, like never before.
"the only profession that labors incessantly to destroy the reason for its own existence."
-James Bryce, March 23rd, 1914
guess? what is that profession?
hope you're out there golden gal, and reading
did not mean to pry but was trying to find a document on bro's computer, and just clicked on it, had to read. you deserve it more than me, so i hope and pray you make it
someday maybe we can go to india together, and tackle all those things you saw
tho i do feel the fact that we care, is in and of itself a starting point cause so many people dont
not that its acceptable to merely know, truly feel if you know, and are aware, yet let it happen, that you are accountable
everytime someone says ah who cares, reminded of story of man who decided that when they came for the 'others' it wasn't his responsibility to say anything
and when they came for him, no one was left to speak out
It's alright, I know it's right . . . . . 'Cause I feel that when I'm with you, It's alright, I know it's right.

more quotes
"We are kind of shocked they didn't beat us."
- AHMAD SALAH, after the police in Cairo allowed election-day protesters to chant antigovernment slogans.
"It is remarkable that on a downtown street in a major U.S. city, a corpse can decompose for days, like carrion, and
that is acceptable."
-DAN BROWN, NY Times Sept 8th 2005
'The sleepwalking suburban slave classes in their Wimpey mock-Tudor penal colonies. A jail that needed no walls because the inmates had been brainwashed into believing they wanted to be there. Incarceration by aspiration, all the time mindlessly propagating and self-replicating, passing on their submissive DNA to the next generation of glazed-eyed prisoners'.

so i hate fwds
and since i dont buy into the 'email five people at once or else,' im not going to send it on. but it does have a nice if cheesy message
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will.
You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time.
You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.
You'll fight with your best friend.
You'll blame a new love for things an old one did.
You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love.
So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

randomn quotes
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
A single Anne Frank moves us more than the countless others who suffered just as she did but whose faces have remained in the shadows. Perhaps it is better that way. If we were capable of taking in all the suffering of all those people, we would not be able to live.

spiritual cat
so the story behind the spiritual cat
my aunt went to see a mystic.
skeptics stop reading now, its only going to get worse
said mystic described my dad and mam
and then told her that the cat that frequently visited their house (here)
a brown and black one
(its calico)
was a spiritual cat
and that it was good that the cat visited
the past 2 years ive been living here, this cat has been hanging around
ive come home before, left windows open,
been in bedroom getting changed to go out or whatever,
and you know that feeling, when the hairs on the back of your neck stand up?
cause you're being watched?
turn and scream ahhh cat! on my bed, studying me. like im the intruder
or washing dishes, focused on task, to again get that weird feeling,
jump! cat is on the windowsill staring me down
leave windows open when i can,
hate the idea of breathing in/out same air (it can keep you sick)
so spiritual cat has gotten in the habit of sleeping in my bed at night
which ok at first cause she's one of those cats who just purrs
(why do some stop purring?)
and then does that whole front paws, right-left-right-left thing to you,
like they're trying to pet you back?
i dunno cats that well
but ive had to close my windows cause im pretty sure she brought
me another gift
fleas
last nite you shoulda heard the fit that
she threw when she couldnt get into my room
and only a cat would do this
what dog would ever just wander on into someone else's house,
get up on the bed and take a nap?
where's the loyalty?
hence i want a puppy
plus im either having a serious allergic skin reaction to cat fur in my bed
or she's fleas
oh god scared to use the freakin' apostrophe damn i cant spell
hope i did ok you finnegans wake people
why you would want to try and decipher that book
funny thing is most of us got through dubliners and well that was enough for us dubliners
anyways at the same time, im super superstitious and i dont want to piss off
the spiritual cat, heard weird stories about animals, especially cats
maybe its my grandmama checking up on me
making sure im in bed alone cause god knows theres no ring on my finger
and it is her house, her infant of prague staring me down
cause the cat (i need a name for her, help me) doesnt like other people, wont visit if i've company, and never came here before i moved in,
seriously she did her thing, let herself in one warm september day, and the cousin i was living with the 1st year i was here, freaked out cause apparently he's highly allergic
and he'd never seen the cat before though it obviously
lives nearby like next door
of course for this bizarre belief, i get the piss taken outta me
they laugh, and i have to laugh at myself
we even have a spiritual cat dance, i mean tis a bit ridiculous, i am after all
studying medicine; a discipline about as far as you can get from mumbo jumbo,
well modern western medicine at least,
id be a witch doctor in another time, another place
yet ive been in buildings where theres no 13th floor,
and how do you feel if a black cat crosses your path?
would you walk under a ladder? break a mirror?
live in an appartment with the numbers 666?
maybe theres nothing in it, but
where do these superstitions come from?
and why in this scientific age where we demand our skin cream to have gone through rigorous testing with 93% of women finding a difference,
are they still with us?
sorry my apologies just watched crazy documentary on bbc about the links between science and seances.
did you know one of thomas edison's hopes with the telephone and phonograph, was to be able to communicate with the dead?
rationally i know a cat is just a cat. but i normally hate cats and they sense this and stay away from me. why would a mystic bring up this cat to my aunt? i know the tricks but this kinda thing is so randomn, my mam, my other aunt, or nan, would be like ok mystic full of it, mention of brown n black cat makes no sense
right enough. randomn thoughts.
i really need to go to sleep ack its almost 10am shite

happy friday
sometimes
when your day is long, and the night, the night is your's alone
and you're sure you've had enough of this life
well hang on
so i havent listened to rem in ages. where did they disappear to?
sometimes everything is wrong
now its time to sing along
when your day is night, hold on
when you feel like letting go, hold on
when you think you've had too much of this life,
well hang on
micheal stipe? hello? i mean i know yer man left but the rest of them?
did they play at live 8?
i wish that song seemed overdramatic and melancholy (spelling?really cant) but it doesnt, it seems to fit way too many people's reality
sad world. mad world?
i guess the clock on this thing is american time? cause its really 6:30am here, not 10 pm. its friday the 2nd for me.
remember when i was a kid always wondered if you crossed the international date time at the right time if you could know the news of the day, a day ahead
some new years will go to tongo, island in pacific, date line runs through, so you celebrate new years on one side, walk across and celebrate new years again
that'll also be the year i finally get to have a pool party for my birthday, seriously january b-days are no fun, cheap pressies, everyone broke from xmas, sometimes i would get 'merry xmas/happy birthday' presents
soooo wrong
though know someone who was born on christmas eve. that has to be the worst
ok so went from depressing rem song and the sad state of the world to talking of material things
by god how miserable can you be if one of your major complaints is that you've never had a pool party on your birthday?
come on how many of ya would jump in on jan 13th?
speaking of my birthday, this year it falls on a friday. promises to be a very lucky day for me. seriously 13 is lucky in my family
(hello i was born on that date, as if that isnt proof enough)
ok enough.
i wish you enough
and you're sure you've had enough of this life
well hang on
so i havent listened to rem in ages. where did they disappear to?
sometimes everything is wrong
now its time to sing along
when your day is night, hold on
when you feel like letting go, hold on
when you think you've had too much of this life,
well hang on
micheal stipe? hello? i mean i know yer man left but the rest of them?
did they play at live 8?
i wish that song seemed overdramatic and melancholy (spelling?really cant) but it doesnt, it seems to fit way too many people's reality
sad world. mad world?
i guess the clock on this thing is american time? cause its really 6:30am here, not 10 pm. its friday the 2nd for me.
remember when i was a kid always wondered if you crossed the international date time at the right time if you could know the news of the day, a day ahead
some new years will go to tongo, island in pacific, date line runs through, so you celebrate new years on one side, walk across and celebrate new years again
that'll also be the year i finally get to have a pool party for my birthday, seriously january b-days are no fun, cheap pressies, everyone broke from xmas, sometimes i would get 'merry xmas/happy birthday' presents
soooo wrong

oh britannia
trolly days. only in england. e in eccentricthough the only difference between eccentricity and madness is money
and to add more fun the next piece, "High art of the week" (cut off) goes:
"Operatic performances in Berlin risk being accused of going to pot with the latest production of Camille Saint-Saen's opera The Yellow Princess. Bernhard Glocksin, 46-yr-old director of the Neuckollner opera house, (much apologies dont know how to put in the weird accent marks) said of the work, which tells the story of an artist's obsession with drugs and Japan, was "improved with a few joints" smoked on stage. And to get in the mood, members of the audience are also being encouraged to smoke their own. The police have been told the performers are covered by "artistic licence"
Sunday Times Aug 29th
stranger than fiction
and hello to all the film-makers out there, so much has yet to be covered by film
no to tv series/old movie/comic book/remakes!
katrina
awh they named a hurricane after my own dear mother. well ok technically shes 'catherina' but most people say 'katrina' and she's talked about changing it to that but for fun (ala the fun she had with her kids names) making the spelling 'katriona' and therefore more irish. (oirish)
though in the name stakes compared to her sisters she got lucky my nanny apparently was really into wuthering heights, liked catherine, but has the same sense of whimsy when spelling names
aoife. eoin. brid (with an accent over the i)
poor deirdre gets mad because her name has been co-opted by another ethnic minority, and people are startled when she doesnt look the way her name would suggest. . . .
btw, they also pronounce it wrong. deirdre of the sorrows indeed.
back to the point, there was one, so yes what mother nature can do is amazing, terribly so, and its awful the stories of people being trapped and the ones suffering the most, (as always?) the poor and the elderly pointing again to the unfairness of it all,
however ive got some major big huge oh my god issues with people referring to this as their "hiroshima"
em well actually its a bit different
the other comparison was 'this is our tsunami'
er no, not quite by a longshot unless they were talking about coastal areas in africa that felt some of the reverb
yesterday 800 people probably closer to 1000 died in iraq, mostly women and children, on their way to celebrate a holy day
but the headline news on sky one, bbc, etc was about this natural disaster.
(that is my mother. ok ok but if you dont laugh, whats left to do?)
not for a second meaning that the people are any less deserving of sympathy, support, help, and aid
they are, i cannot imagine having your life literally swept away, to be rootless and not by choice, no place to call home its heartbreakingly sad and i hate for anyone to experience that
beneath my warm fuzzy exterior however, just to show what a smug middle class gal i am, no word yet on whether our time share in the french quarter is ok. what im really worried about.
is it?
