[O'Connor, M, & Kelleher Associates, Making the Links, Women's Aid, 1995] In 2010, there were 13,575 incidents of domestic violence disclosed to the Women's Aid National Freephone Helpline, made up of 8,351 incidents of emotional abuse, 3,031 incidents of physical abuse, 1,605 incidents of financial abuse and 588 incidents of sexual abuse, including 213 incidents of rape. [Women's Aid National Helpline & Support Services Annual Statistics 2010] In a one-day survey on 4th November 2010, 555 women and 324 children were accommodated and/or received support from a domestic violence service; 140 helpline calls were received from women; 108 women were accommodated in refuge and 98 women in transitional housing; 18 women could not be accommodated due to lack of space. So this is a bit of a whinge. just a warning. I accepted a lift and not thinking left my coat in the car. Which had my phone, wallet which I noticed right away, however I've just discovered, my Ipod, was in the pockets as well. Once I got out I realised my mistake about coat, and ran around literally begging people for change so I could call my phone right away-thank you generous people of Dublin (didn't get a thing-even from the lads opening the Centra-so not going there again). The guy with the car decided to call my phone and leave a voicemail, but did not leave his number (in phone). I contacted o2, and checked my voicemail and they told me how to supposedly return the call, that didn't work. Which I think might have something to do with my retro phone which has 6 digits on it. lovely ring tone ;) At least I could change my voicemail. Not having a rain coat yesterday sucked. Not having a wallet/money and having to cancel all the cards sucked. But today I just realised my Ipod was in that jacket. And I've been crying ever since. See my MacBook (8 yrs and going strong) earlier this year lost everything including all my music (do not say anything about external backup, I've heard it all), and so all my music was left on that Ipod. I have most of the original music-I'm an album buyer, but my old laptop won't read cd's anymore. I have no Ipod anyway. And that, the loss of my music is what has me crying today. I know there are far far more serious things to cry over in this life, and in the world. I post about them! But Ipod I will miss you dearly. The times you kept me sane on the bus. Allowed me to ignore chuggers. Distracted me from the rain by a song that helped me run/walk faster. All the runs that literally it was only the music that kept me going especially when getting lost in Mount Merrion. See Clontarf is easy, run downhill, will eventually end up at sea. In Mount Merrion, run up and down hills and end up?!? Anyways I hope enough people turn out for the Dublin Movember Run in Phoenix Park-Saturday, 10am, be there-so I won't miss it during the race. I just need someone to draw a fantastic Mo for me (cant buy a big furry one, get too creative with outfit). Apologies for the whinge. Happy Thursday everyone! And appreciate your Ipod/mp3!!
