they don't understand

what do you do? when the people closest to you or the people that should be closest to you, miss the point. ramble on with their theories about how you should behave. lecture. and yell. what is worse? being aware of yourself, or being aware of the shortcomings in those you love?
no matter how much i try to explain, they don't understand. there is a divide.
he's too used to sound of his voice, to always being right, never being questioned.
she? i remember when i saw that she'd lost her confidence, when all of a sudden this woman who could talk and charm anyone, the grumpiest grocery store clerk, whoever, became harrassed and harried, apologising all over the place. the mam i remember, you'd to drag an apology out of her.

ive always been a big disney fan, not so much a believer in fairy tales. more into animals (lion king, bambi, etc) and happy endings. love a happy ending.
now im a girl, well no, a woman(?). and ive never wanted a prince, never believed in happy ever after when it comes to love. no prince charming. i believe that one of the greatest accomplishments of feminism is that me, and others, have been freed of the idea that women need men for our stories to be complete.
our ancient tales of women end with marriage. when we know that is just the beginning. we have yet to rewrite our tales, our myths.
children mark women's lives in ways no man ever could.
once you've been pregnant-no matter for how long-your life divides into before and after.

just to carry the knowledge that you can, when the news headlines are of women and their declining fertility
(male fertility decreases from the age of 27 on, if a man is over 35 he effectively doubles his partner's risk of miscarriage)

how did i get on that rant/roll, im not pregnant, just depressed. which i swear my parents, and pretty much everyone i know, has a harder time with.

situation a:
why didn't you call?
-im depressed-
a) um, im uncomfortable with this because if you're depressed then maybe i should be and that would require introspection which id rather not do and . . so i don't know how to deal with you, and would frankly, rather not. peace of mind and all.

situation b:
why didn't you call?
-im pregnant-
b) oh ok, honey how can i help? let me offer you *stereotypical advice for pregnant women.*
i know i can't be pregnant so i know i can offer some bullshit advice and relay some tired lines.
