WHAT THE FUCK?

is going on? i cant believe whats happening in lebanon right now. i cant believe the us basically gave israel a green light to continue the attacks for another week. i cant believe tony blair went along with it.
61 people died today. one of which was NOT a civilian.
so say you dont care. what about the us government's treatment of its own citizens trapped in lebanon?
or israel's disregard for us lawin regard to weapon use.
i cannot see how any of this is going to help or change the situation in the mideast. if the objective is to further polarize the israeli/palestinian situation, to give more power to extremist groups such as hizbollah, to encourage anti-american sentiment, yes it will succeed.

i just hate this. all of it. sick of it.

people are getting out but it is not news to tell you that 1500 got out yesterday and that 3 planes landed today at bwi and dc opened shelters for the people to stay in.

it is also true that hizbollah attacked first. and that they are supported heavily in money and arms by iran. of course it is connected to palestine but it is also connected to much much more.

they attacked first?
so bomb the beirut airport, damage the infrastructure to the point in lebanon that aid agencies say its not a matter of supplies but getting the supplies to the people who need it.
this is the right response? say there will only be ceasefire when hizbollah disarms? thereby putting everything in the hands of extremists who will continue fighting.
beyond that in the longterm i cant see what positive could come from this.

i didn't say that it was the right response but i am saying that it is more logical than you made it sound.
bomb the beirut airport after lebanon is informed and has time to remove the planes and people because weapons from iran are being brought in.
or demanding that hizbollah disarm could be putting it in the hands of the lebanese people, the un and the rest of the world that disagrees with terrorists activities.
maybe it is not, i don't know. but i do know that it is not as black and white as evil israel attacking innocent hizbollah members for no reason and with no strategy or plan.
what is the right response to a group that has no borders, has fairly easy access to weapons, has been allowed to basically operate freely in terms of building bunkers and stockpiling weapons, is wealthy enough to have their own TV station, and is kidnapping people?

im not saying its black and white. far from it. im upset about the loss of civilian life. and upset because i cant see how this strategy can help israel/us in the long run. i dont think the lebanese govt ever had the power to control hizbollah. i can only see this reaction fueling fanaticism and bringing more support for hizbollah.

i don't disagree with that!
